August 14, 2010

8/13/2010-8/14/2010

Yesterday we had to cancel our visit to Brookegreen Garden due to a thunder storm so instead a few of us went to Broadway on the Beach to shop, go to a movie, or Magiquest. I went to Magiquest and had a great time! I spent 90 minutes there and after I was done I bought a tunic, belt, and some magic runes to empower my wand. Today we are leaving to go back home.

august 14.
I got sicker so I didnt go on any more outings. At the Oprey we got lost and read the signs which we cracked up over. There is a resturant called Suck Bang Blow right across from another place called Cooters. This is after a row of restarunts called the dead dog saloon, drunken jacks, crazy sisters reef, bubba's love shack. The names were so awful it was hilarious! I figured that the district was really an undercover red light district. We proceeded to get lost on the way to the Oprey and from there the signs only got worse. Rent-a-tool, rent-a-party, shiver me pincers, the bed man, bad kitty, the foxy lady, this combined with the piggly wiggly and the food lion made for some serious southern prioritizing. There was a billboard for a womens hair cutting salon for men and a accidental baby choose life bill board. All this combined to make for a hilarious car ride which was way more personally fulfilling and more fun then the Oprey which was in my opinion a combination of a light show and good karaoke singers. I slept through most of it. The place we went to dinner was god awful. Misty and I shared a look once we saw the seafood buffet food. Never trust a person who doesn't eat at night for dinner reservations. Every thing was old, fried and over cooked. There were no mixed greens and everything looked like it had been sitting there all day. No one else seemed to mind, though. They loved the Oprey and they actullay thought the jokes were funny. Its kind of hard to follow the funny jokes when your eyes are closed. Flashjing lights and smoke really aren't my thing. I got sicker. Now I am puking up everything in my stomach. I got into a misunderstanding with Mary and started crying. AJ and Ed comforted me. Well it has been a stressful morning. I just feel so bad because the topic is one that i really care about but I recieve no support on. I wish Mary had been more gently encouraging. I guess someone just over estimated me again. Not bad though. I had a good time.

Dear Deb,
I like the stay at home. I helped the Habitat for Hummanity at the store and moved the funiture and cut the string. When I am with Mary I did shopping for a gift for Cindy. We went to Piggly Wiggly and the Walmart to buy gifts for staff at the last minute. I cleaned the house in the bathroom and packed for the trip back to school. The last Church we ate Lunch at, after I took a short shower, I ate PBJ and Carrots and Banana and Lemon Cake and the Ice cream. I got an awards with the smiling bc I'm always smiling and laugh with people all of the time and talk about the stores with Mary and Misty. I gave Mary and Misty cards to thank the two staff members. I will miss Habitat for Hummanity and the people.

Yesterday's ativity was canceled due to weather, but it turned out good because I saw a movie and got to look at some place that was like some RPG in real life called Magi Quest. I would like to see that place some other time.

August 13, 2010

Today we prepped some wood to put the roof on. The roof would have been hard for us so the professionals worked on it instead. After we finished working on the house we went to the Habitat store. While we were there we all had to pile up the wood and tie the strings. Then we had lunch at the church. Today's lunches were grilled cheese sandwiches with potato soup, carrots and potato chips. The drinks were sweetened tea and unsweetened tea. I hated the unsweetened tea. I mean I didn't exactly hate it, but I didn't like the taste at all so it just didn't appeal to me. This is the last chapter so read this please. Thank you.

Today we had to get up at 5:30 like usual. I was the only one that was energized. It was so hot this morning like any of the mornings this week. After we worked on the house we ate lunch at the Habitat for Humanity office. A lot of the food was from KFC, acutally almost all of it except for the ice cream. It was delicious. Emily brought in her dog with her to lunch. Tonight we are eating at a seafood place where I keep on forgetting the name of. Then, we are going to the Grand Opry which is a variety show which I am very excited to see.

Today I was working on the windows of the house on the front and back. I had to take some breaks because I was overheating, not cool. Ed and I had to carry the ladders back to the shed. Last night we played minature golf. It was a lot of fun. I had a great time just hanging out with everyone. Ducks were right at the door and it was weird but good weird if you know what I mean. Ryan and Jen each got a hole in 1. Please read this blog people. If you don't want to you don't have to. Misty and I saw two frogs at the house. I got a picture with it lol. There are quite a few more adventures for us.

Today we started the Habitat for Humanity. It was good to start today. Let me tell you something it was hard work, but that is what is required. We were working on the house from 7:00 in the morning too 11:00 in the afternoon. Got some bug bites. Afterwards we went to the church to have lunch. I thought the meal was delicious although I could have had it without the spaghetti hahahaha. Peach cobbler was awesome well I thought it was. The salad was spectacular. All of us toured the church and we went in the chapel. In the chapel I played the piano and sang Let It Be by the Beatles and Break Down by Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers which Ed put on video and the best part is he is going to put it on facebook yey me. Georgetown was quite a splendid place. I walked around the shops. The shops were very interesting. Please feel free to read this. Family, friends I can't wait to tell you about this amazing journey. I am having an amazing time. I love you all and miss you. I got something for my girlfriend. Shh it's a surprise for her so don't tell her.

Today was my first day volunteering for habitat. I hammered nails. the guy chris gave me the wrong nails twice. it got better once the old guys showed up espically the one called the doctor. he didnt say what kind of doctor he was it remains a mystery but he showed me how to move the pieces of wood around and he sent me to hammering nails in the weather stripping with my own little ladder. well not that it was mine per say but it was nice to use it. i felt bad because near the end of the day they needed ladder, but i didnt want to give mine up. it was rough at first but i was amazed by how well i did hammering nails.

Yesterday I came from Edistow Island with my parent's and some family friends. It is an hour away from the airport. I met some interesting people such as Erika, Edward and Jennifer. Today we went to the water park. At the water park there is a lazy river and tons of water slides. I had a hot dog with nacho cheese and jalapaneos along with the french fries and the drink. After the water park we went to the beach. Oh, yes! The water was wonderful. Also it was just nice talking to everyone. As some of you know back home, to my family and my friends, I am really enjoying the trip. Thank you so much for getting me in. I am the only student from CLE Rockville, Maryland. I was talking with Ed and Jennifer about what music they listen to, plus there were other things we talked about, but honestly I don't remember sorry everyone. Tommorow is our first day on the job. Hahahahhahahahah this should be interesting. I love you all and miss you to family and friends. Shalom.

Dear Family and friends
How are you? I'm great! Not a care in the world.
I am having a great time in South Carolina. I can not wait to go to work on the house. I went to a water park and went and took pictures of the Huntington Castle. My friend Ethan is also a guitarist and a singer. He's also into bluegrass just like me. Well Bye, Ed Ljungdahl

August 8, 2010

Jennifer, Ethan, Ryan, Ed, and Erika arrived safe and sound to Charlseton yesterday. After getting acquainted over a delicious dinner, we made the beautiful drive to Georgetown where we were greeted by Cindy, our HFH househost.

Today we headed North to Surfside Beach and enjoyed Wild, Water, & Wheels waterpark. And as if that wasn't fun enough, our next stop was Huntington State Beach!

We are home now and students are taking turns cooking and blogging. Enjoy the news!
